Clemson University Wordmark

Friedl Thielemann and Wolfgang Hillebrandt with Dagmar Hillebrandt in Munich Biergarten. When Hillebrandt left Darmstadt for the Max Planck Institut fuer Astrophysik (where he is now director), Thielemann went with him, initially as a PhD student. (See Darmstadt Renaissance in 1977 photo). They now count among the primary leaders of nuclear astrophysics in Europe. This photo is on Aug. 11, 1981; see next entry for another including Clayton on the same occasion. This followed Clayton's lecture "Extinct Radioactivities: a three-phase mixing model (ApJ 268, 381 (1983))" at MPI on this date.
