Clemson University Wordmark

Group during the banquet at the Wente Brothers Winery during Workshop on Nucleosynthesis and Isotopic Anomalies organized and held at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in honor of Clayton's 1991 Leonard Medal of the Meteoritical Society. July 27, 1991. From left are Michael J. Newman, Kem Hainebach and Donald Clayton. All met at Rice University, Newman and Hainebach as Clayton's PhD advisees. Newman worked on s process studies and on solutions to the solar neutrino problem (see Newman and Fuller below on this date); Hainebach worked on the synthesis of the iron peak, showing that the "radiogenic iron" (see Clayton's history of this in MAPS 34, A145 (1999)) fit the shape of the Cr-Fe region much better than did Hoyle's original version of the e process.
