Clemson University Wordmark

Mike Newman and George Fuller during Workshop on Nucleosynthesis and Isotopic Anomalies organized and held at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in honor of Clayton's 1991 Leonard Medal of the Meteoritical Society. July 27, 1991. Newman did PhD at Rice with Clayton on s process studies (ApJ 192, 501; ApJSuppl 31, 33) and on the first evaluation of the effect of a planetary size black hole at the solar center (ApJ 201, 489). Newman then joined Fowler at Caltech, where he worked with George Fuller on their famous studies with Fowler of electron capture rates within supernovae. Fuller's thesis (with Fowler) led to a series of papers on weak decays in supernovae coauthored with Fowler and with Newman (Fuller,Fowler and Newman ApJ 1980, 1982a,b, 1985).
