Donald D. Clayton and Peter B. Shaw (right) walking in 1966 on Hill St. in Pasadena on the edge of the Caltech campus. Clayton held there the faculty appointment Visiting Associate in Physics and Shaw was Research Associate at Rice University. Their joint published papers concerned photo-induced beta decay in stars (Phys. Rev. 140, B1433-41 (1965) and on Coulomb de-excitation of 12C in hot He gas (Astrophys. J. 148, 301-303 (1967).
